In 2011, one in three people reported having been on a camping / caravanning or glamping holiday in the previous three years, an increase from 1 in 5 people in 2009 and a large increase for glamping in the UK.
Growth in the demand for low cost breaks across the UK in recent years, and particularly in times of economic uncertainty, impacts of Brexit, exchange rates this is not likely to change and consumers wary about how they are spending on foreign holidays, all indicators suggest this is a growing market. More and more people are looking to alternative homebased family holidays and affordable short breaks.
One of the largest glamping franchise networks stated booking revenues in excess of GBP 2.5Million in 2013 across more than 60 locations in the UK. It is likely to have more than 100 affiliated partners in 2017.
