We’re delighted to announce that our MD Peter Farquharson has been shortlisted for the Start-Up Entrepreneur of the Year category at the 2018 Royal Bank of Scotland Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
Peter recently received the Social Impact Award at Belfast Buisness Top 50, 2017 and was also recognised as the “Overall Inspiring Leader” in the Sector at the inaugural CO3 Voyager Awards in 2010.
After graduating Peter worked for more than 10 years in the Construction Industry as a professional Engineer in London, UK.
He returned to Belfast in 1993, to start up Habitat for Humanity (HFH) the International NGO, in Ireland, the first in Europe.
Under Peter’s leadership Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland (HFHNI) became the first fully autonomous, self-funded HFH organisation worldwide.
With the focus of Peace Building, Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland delivered multiple community-based, self-build affordable housing projects, engaging thousands of volunteers across communities most impacted by sectarian violence.
In 2012, as an Affordable Housing expert with the United Nations in Iraq, Peter was responsible for the support of Iraq National Housing Policy (INHP) in Baghdad, and the implementation of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Housing Strategy in Erbil.
Peter then set up INTU Consulting Ltd in 2013 to provide Leadership and Management Services to not-for Profit and Private Sector Companies.
He has been appointed in Interim Chief Executive and Business Development roles and notably as Technical Advisor for Northern Ireland Co-operation Overseas Ltd (NI-CO) to promote Northern Ireland public sector housing and urban governance expertise in overseas markets.
In 2015, Peter founded INTU Global Shelter (IGS) to provide innovative design solutions to meet housing and shelter needs worldwide.
After 12 months of R&D, Intupod, launched into the UK and Ireland markets offering multi-purpose pods and living spaces.
Peter has also led the development of a partnership opportunity for farmers and landowners seeking to diversify in to tourism and accommodation provision.
